You Can Be Christian and Vote For A Democrat - PART 2

Many people only consider one issue when they cast their vote for President. Abortion is often that issue. It works on both sides. Many people are so pro-choice that they will only vote Democrat. Some people are so pro-life that they will only vote Republican. On the pro-life side of things you hear language and verbiage such as, "God wants McCain." Or God wants abortion to be illegal. It is God's word. You must vote McCain or else you will be responsible for the murder of unborn babies.

The word of God reveals many things. One of the things that we learn in the bible is that in God's eyes no sin is greater than any other. In other words lying is on the same level as murder. Stealing a pack of cigarettes is the same as committing adultery. It is difficult for us to understand how this works as men and woman. How can God see all these sins as equal?

If this is the case and I assure you this portion of God's word is expressed in the bible then how come God only cares about one issue in this election and none of the other sins supported by John McCain or Barack Obama, for that matter. If you think about it, it really does not make sense.

If all sins are equal then how come his most important issue is the outlaw of abortion.

Does he not care that the Republican party is the one most in favor of capital punishment. This involves our government, the state, pulling the lever and killing a human being. This is state-sanctioned and state ordered murder.

Does he not care about electing a man who assures us there will be other wars. The same man who is determined to make the current war last as long as possible. The same man who supports the use of cluster bombs in war because of their lethal effectiveness even though they will kill innocent civilians and children years down the road. Only five nations continue to support the use of these weapons. Should we be proud of being a member of this club.

A few years ago President Bush declared victory in Iraq. If that is the case why are our men and women still dying and their families still being destroyed and torn apart by the loss of their loved ones. Does God not care about this? If we won, why are we still dying?

Oh wait I forget John McCain has at least implied the answer. John McCain has said that he will make sure that we become energy independent so that we never have to wage a war again in the Middle east. Really? We have lost nearly 4200 American lives because of oil? Really? Because I thought we were there because they had weapons of mass destruction, which of course we eventually discovered they did not. I thought we were there to promote democracy around the world. Which is it?

How many innocent civilians have been killed since we declared victory on May 1rst, 2003? Who knows but I do know how many soldiers have died since that date, 4047. Does the death of those innocent civilians in Iraq not count since they are Muslim or Arab? I certainly hope you do not say that they do not.

These philosophies and policies have been the reason why many Democrats say that "Republicans believe that the right to life begins at conception and ends at birth."

We are currently 29th in the world in infant mortality rate. This demonstrates that our health care system is tremendously flawed and yet John McCain takes great issue with Barack Obama's plans to reform the system when his own plan is, I am sorry to say a joke. We deserved a better health care system. Babies are dying due to our current system. I feel that doing nothing to change it is tragic when by changing it you will save children's lives. The Republicans endorse doing nothing, the Democrats think we need to change things.

Many Republican analysts have said that McCain has run a campaign that is negative and divisive. He has painted Barack Obama as different than us. Scary. His supporters use words like terrorist, socialist, and utter threats like "kill him" at their rallies. Racial epithets are bandied about in the crowd. Is that cool to God? Is that what he wants? I thought all men were created equal. Perhaps all men are created equal unless their father gives them the middle name Hussein.

Finally I defy anyone to convince me that McCain's proposal to give the rich more money is biblical.

The rich will have tens of thousands of more dollars to play with. Does that make sense? Is that really what God wants. Is that what Jesus would do? Because I am not getting that from what I read and have learned about the bible. If somebody will please forward me the passage about giving more money to the rich it would be much appreciated.

Do not get me wrong, I do understand what John McCain is saying. I do understand supply-side economics and Ronald Reagan, the greatest President I have ever known demonstrated the effectiveness of this. That was 1980. Twenty eight years later the "trickle-down" has stopped and even with annual raises I am worse off every year with the increases in my health care costs and inflation.

Now for more on abortion.

In 1999 John McCain was not in favor of overturning Roe V Wade. Now he is. In his 2000 election run he lost and found that he could not win the votes of the majority of the Republican base if he did not support the overturning of Roe V Wade. He said he came to that decision by virtue of much prayer. Perhaps he did, that is only for him to truly know, but political expediency I think would also be a logical reason.

Yet still, John McCain and Sarah Palin are NOT in favor of a constitutional ban on abortion. They simply think it is best to leave it up to individual states. I repeat in case you did not understand it the first time, John McCain and Sarah Palin are NOT in favor of a constitutional ban on abortion.

I am not saying this based upon what I hear but what comes out of their mouths and is promoted on their websites:

John McCain: http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/Issues/95b18512-d5b6-456e-0a2-12028d71df58.htm

Sarah Palin: http://www.palinforamerica.com/index.php?option=com_content & view=article & id=201:media-twists-palins-abortion-record & catid=57:social-issues & Itemid=118

McCain and Palin do support the murder of unborn babies when they are conceived through rape and incest. I do not think that God would find those lives any less valuable than any other.

How is that any better? I do not get it. If they are so appalled by abortion why do they not support a constitution ban on abortion. Why do they trust the judgment of the states? I have heard Sarah Palin state that she will never put a woman who has an abortion in jail or prison. What is the point of outlawing anything if you are not going to hold the criminals accountable? Jailing just those who perform the abortions will prove innefective because you are dealing with the same type of person who supplies our children with drugs at great risk to their personal freedoms.

If in fact those mothers are guilty of murder should they not suffer the same consequences of a mother who kills a child who left the womb?

I guess the response will be that it is better than nothing or it is a start. At least they have the right idea they say. That certainly is not God's idea of right. Do you think that this will be good enough for God?

I would think that God would want someone who cared little about what will get them the most votes. Someone that would stand up for supporting a constitutional ban and not say it is just fine if some states want to do it. I really can not picture God being a really big fan of John McCain.

I have not listed all of Obama's and the Democratic parties faults and sins because they are not the holier than thou party.

My point is that it is impossible to make a political decision solely on moral grounds because both, all parties will have issues. And if no sin is greater than any other in God's eyes then perhaps we are going to have to look at other issues.

Much time and effort is being spent in worrying about man's laws when it could be spent revealing the word of God to man and educating him about God's laws and the importance of respecting them. A person that is no respecter of God's laws will care even less about man's.

This is what God has revealed to me.
