I Had No Idea That I Was Not A Patriot

Just to be clear I am also not an idiot, fascist, un-American, non-Christian, Nazi sympathizer, baby killer or granny killer. Perhaps though, before I make this claim I should examine the evidence.

Recently I sat down with my children to watch The Sound of Music. As I cheered on Mr. Von Trapp when he pulled down the Nazi banner and silently willed him and his sizeable family away from the Nazi's and over the mountain I began to ponder how odd it was for someone like myself, an Obama supporter to cheer against the same Nazi movement that our current President embraces and the leader who the President aspires to be like. I have seen the signs, in fact we all have, with Obama sporting that very same infamous tuft of hair under his nose that Hitler once wore. It must be true. Oh my, where could I have gone wrong?

Perhaps the bloggers and posters who refer to all Democrats as Dims are right? I must be downright stupid. I am an idiot. In my defense I must admit that I kept waiting for someone to explain the correlation between Obama and Hitler yet I have not heard anyone make even a minimally intelligible argument that Obama is Hitler-like. All I had to do was look at the signs. We all know that "a picture is worth a thousand words." How much time I wasted waiting for someone to present facts.

Wait a second, they say Obama is a fascist as well. Could I possibly be supporting a fascist? Was the media wrong when they stated that President Obama was elected with a sizeable majority, especially when compared to the slim margins of victory of his predecessor. Heck, Bush could not even win the popular vote in his last election. It should have been obvious to me that Obama had dictatorial intentions when he rammed health care down America's throats by passing it through Congress with a super majority in the Senate and a majority in the house.

I did not realize that the same health care reform bill that was rammed down our throats is apparently America's first ever entrance into socialism and will lead us into a Leninist state. This is incredibly ironic considering the bill that was eventually passed was remarkably similar to the one that 2008 and 2012 GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney actually enacted in his home state. The same concepts that Republican President Nixon, former Republican Presidential candidate Bob Dole, Current Republican Senators Orrin Hatch and Chuck Grassley once championed is actually, when put under that shining light that Sarah Palin provides, the most horrible nation killing, liberty depriving, socialistic policy the world has ever seen.

I learned early on in the campaign that I had no right to call myself a Christian if I voted for a Democrat for President. I have been burdened with the "blood of all unborn babies" due to the vote I cast for President Obama.

And grannies like my 75 year old mother whom I love dearly. Yep, I want them to die as soon as possible because they provide no economic value to our country. How cruel I am.

The evidence is stacking up against me.

I must really be un-American. This despite the fact that I have always flown the flag in front of my house proudly. This despite the fact, that when watching my brother-in-law graduate from boot camp, I had to use my unruly children as an excuse to leave the auditorium because I was so damned proud of my brother-in-law and all the brave men and women who were eager to serve our country, that I did not want my family to see my red rimmed eyes.

The verdict is in. I am a horrible person. I am horribly mistaken and confused.

How dare I use the brain God gave me to think for myself. To fact check and research what is really taking place in Washington.

All I needed to do was listen to the hate filled rhetoric of Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh. And if they were not around I could listen to the righteous Sarah Palin and take her advice to "reload". Tea Party puppet John Boehner is always a fount of wisdom. Senator Mitch McConnell is always a source of compassion. Do not underestimate what can be learned from Republican mascot Joe the Plumber, who so kindly explained to all of us the definition of "faggot".

They all tell me in one way or the other that this is going to be the end of the line for America. This is the end of the world and Armageddon. Personally I thought it was going to happen after the Red Sox won the World Series. Of course that is nothing compared to making sure 33 million more people have access to health care. The god of Glenn Beck is really ticked off about this.

The Republicans are very good about issuing warnings. Be scared, be very scared they tell me.

I am scared for America, but not because of President Obama.

Thank you so much Dan, for speaking out in behalf of many who's voices can't be heard.

I am against inequality, and therefore it is my impression that the Republican Party and the Tea Party as they are currently structured are but broken, hollow shells glued together with bumper stickers. That's the hollowness of their rhetoric. When their policies are studied in depth, their real colors come out loud and clear. For example when the Tea Party shouted the “N” word at the black congressmen. And the "You Lie" comment in congress.

These are nothing but RWPs (rich white people) in my opinion, with instead of a feeling of compassion for their fellow human beings, hide behind a conceit and arrogance that is beginning to surface out of their smoke and mirrors. Which is all they have left. This is the GOP's death throes, unless they quickly make a 180 degree turn, which means sincerely seeing all people equal to them. Yes, all people, even illegal immigrants. Even people of color. Even poor people. Everyone the GOP is afraid of.

Never fear. Liberals speak easy but are determined to bring about equality - racial, financial, and religious. The GOP needs to take a deep breath and see the future of our country which will be brown, not white, interracial, inter religious, and financially equitable for all, not just a few.  And they need to take a good look at Obama and see what an intelligent, determined, engaged, compassionate president can do for ALL the people.

If the Republicans don't soon get off their high horse of thinking that this is still a rich white world, which flies in the face of everything that's happening in the world, they will lose influence completely. All that is holding them together now is an appeal to the fringe right, making headlines perhaps, but will doom them at the polls just like it did two years ago.

Americans aren’t as stupid as the RWP (Rich White Party) thinks we are.

The GOP is starting to look like they are behind the times a bit. McCain's campaign was nothing but a series of desperation moves. McConnell and Boehner have painted themselves in the corner on finance reform. I sure hope we aren't as stupid as they think we are. Especially the independents.
