Well Over 90 Percent of Republicans Are Liars

An absurd statement yet a catchy title. Those two statements equal opportunity for the conservative movement.

Recently I was shocked to discover that our President told America concerning high gas prices to "get used to them." Where did I learn this? Facebook, of course. The news source for many. It was a status update post that asked other people to copy and paste to their own profile pages in an effort to spread the word.

The statement was a lie. What he actually said at a wind turbine plant outside Philadelphia was this, "I'm just going to be honest with you. There's not much we can do next week or two weeks from now,"

It is hard to argue with this statement. Nor is it callous or uncaring. It is just much more scandalous to suggest he said, "get used to them". Where would someone get the idea he said this? Fox News of course. Click Here for the article.

The title I chose for my article references a recent statement made by Republican Jon Kyl from Arizona that he made on the floor of the United States Senate concerning Planned Parenthood.

"If you want an abortion you go to Planned Parenthood and that's well over 90 percent of what Planned Parenthood does."

Of course this is not all they do. They perform cancer screenings, provide birth control and STD testing among other things. In fact, abortions amount to only 3 percent of what they do.

A child can understand the difference between 3 percent and well over 90 percent is quite large. A conservative can as well, they just simply do not care. This was made evident when Kyl's office released a statement that Kyl's claim was not intended to be a factual statement.

Facts can often be messy for conservative leaders, yet they suffer little political consequence for telling lies. Sarah Palin was once awarded the "Lie of the Year" award by Pulitzer Prize winning website politifact.com for her statements regarding "death panels", yet today she is regarded by many in this country as a virtual saint. In my opinion, being a liar should disqualify you for sainthood.

If a person tells me one lie, then everything else that comes out of that person's mouth must be regarded with suspicion even if she winks at me after she tells the lie.

For many in America this is not the case and Republicans know this. It seems people with close minded attitudes rarely news sources which may debunk them. They tend to hang out with people who think like them and read viral e-mails from people who think like them. Ten and a Google search could have led them to the truth, but this is deemed unnecessary by many since  from accounting was the one who posted this information so it must be true.

The intent of this article is not to advocate a pro-choice or pro-life position, but rather a pro-truth position.

Mr. Kyl recently had his statement stricken from the public record. I do not know exactly how this works or why it is allowed. This does not fix the lie. The damage was done.

Mr. Kyl we expect our elected officials to tell us the truth. We cannot make a good decision based on lies. Facts are a necessity. It appears that you did not want us to make an intelligent informed decision and after all, the end justifies the means in your book.

Judging from viral e-mails, text and status updates that I have received, "we the people" are learning from you and they are good students.

Certainly Democrats have been known to spin a yarn or two and I expect more from them as well. It seems to be an epidemic though with conservatives, Republicans and Tea Party leaders. An infectious disease that people such as Donald Trump have caught. It is rarely fatal and might even with a Presidential nomination.

Concerning the title of my article. I would appreciate it if you would strike the remarks from your memory, but if this is impossible, then oh well.

Shame on me for thinking what I'm thinking, so Lord knows I can't say it, but if it walks like a duck, and has as many "qwack-pots" :-) as a duck, then everybody duck because the ca-ca is going to come through the feathers.
